Member of Southeastern Advanced Machine Tools Network

The U.S. DoD needs a strong industrial base to generate technological innovations, maintain deterrence, and provide manufacturing capabilities should the U.S. enter another large-scale conflict.  FDI is excited and proud to be a member of the newly formed Southeastern Advanced Machine Tools Network (SEAMTN), which is part of the 2021 cohort for new defense manufacturing communities established and funded by the Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program (DMCSP).

SEAMTN is an organization that seeks to strengthen the U.S. industrial base by investing in machine tools and additive manufacturing research and development, education, workforce development, and supply chain support. Led by the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering department at the University of Tennessee, SEAMTN is a consortium of companies, colleges and universities, national laboratories, non-profit organizations, and the Tennessee state government.
