Readiness for the World’s Harshest Environments
FDI’s Arctic Water System consists of two components, including the Potable Arctic Water System (PAWS) and the Arctic WasteWater System (AWWS).
Successfully tested with Arctic shelter systems at Eglin Air Force Base in July 2024, the PAWS prototype proved its effectiveness in real-world conditions.
Mission-Ready Potable Arctic Water System (PAWS)
PAWS is a fully automated, mobile water distribution system designed to meet the demands of expeditionary medical field operations in Arctic conditions. Designed to perform in ambient temperatures as low as -65°F and withstand 80–100 mph winds, PAWS will ensure a reliable supply of potable water where existing systems fail. PAWS was developed to solve a critical problem: existing water systems struggle to operate below -25°F, are cumbersome to set up, and unreliable in Arctic field environments. With no dependable solution currently available for military operations in these conditions, PAWS fills a vital capability gap.

- Power Loss Resilience: Keeps water in liquid state for up to 1 hour without power.
- High Flow Rate: Supplies 15 gallons per minute at 30 psig, meeting the demands of medical and operational teams.
- Shelter Integration: Connects seamlessly to TEMPER Air Supported (TAS) Shelters via existing ducts.
- Water Treatment Injection: Supports the injection of disinfectant and other treatment additives.
- Remote Monitoring & Control: Operate and monitor the system from inside the shelter.
- Scalable Design: Easily adaptable in size and capacity to support various deployment needs.

Integrated Arctic Waste Water Management: AWWS
Complementing the PAWS system is the Arctic WasteWater System (AWWS), a rugged, reliable solution for managing wastewater in Arctic environments. AWWS is designed to pump and transport wastewater from expeditionary shelters to designated locations for storage, removal, or disposal, ensuring sanitary conditions and environmental compliance. Like PAWS, AWWS is built for scalability and integrates seamlessly with shelter infrastructure, providing a complete water and wastewater solution for remote operations.
